True Botanicals—the maker of some of the most effective and luxurious natural skincare around—recently launched their pregnancy collection. Not only is it less pricey than many of their iconic products, it allows pregnant women to adopt a baby-safe beauty routine of the highest possible quality.
The Nourishing Cleanser, Repair Serum, Pure Radiance Oil and Vitamin C Booster are anything but basic. Their ingredients—antioxidant-rich, organic, and probiotic—protect and support skin through the hormonal ups and downs of pregnancy. And it’s free of any ingredients that even the most conservative doctor or midwife would advise against.
I tested the True Botanicals Hydrate Collection for a month and it absolutely performs!
Jacqueline’s note: The True Botanicals Hydrate line was previously named the Basics line. So while the name has changed, the formulations are exactly the same.
When Pregnancy Products are an Upgrade
For most people, the True Botanicals Hydrate Collection will likely be the best skin care they’ve ever used.
Yes, it’s basic, but it’s not bare bones. It’s full of nutritive, skin-changing, pure ingredients. Ingredients like raspberry seed oil, hemp seed oil, chia seed oil, and sodium hyaluronate.
The ingredients adhere to an incredibly high standard and—more importantly—the products work.
Like all True Botanicals products, the packaging is dark-colored glass bottles, the gold standard for natural skincare. No need to worry about cheap plastic packaging!
The Nourishing Cleanser
This natural facial cleanser nourishes and protects skin. It never strips or dries skin out.
The Nourishing Cleanser is $32 for a 4oz pump bottle. Find it here.

This creamy cleanser isn’t fabulous at removing makeup, so I recommend removing makeup before using the Nourishing Cleanser with the Pre Cleanse Oil ($48) or these handy little wipes from RMS. Honestly, if you haven’t switched to a two-step cleansing process already, you’re missing out!
The base isn’t plain water, like most cleansers. Instead, True Botanicals uses green and white tea, which boosts the cleanser’s toning, soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Ingredients: organic green and white tea leaf extract, organic camellia tea seed oil, lactobacillus ferment, water, organic glycerin, sucrose cocoate, organic aloe, cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, xanthan gum, lactobacillus, coconut fruit extract, Ecocert phenethyl alcohol, Ecocert ethylhexylglycerin, citric acid, bitter orange leaf/twig extract, ylang ylang flower oil, lavender oil, rose geranium flower oil, frankincense oil, bitter orange flower oil.

Camellia (Tea) Oil helps refresh skin by breaking down the oil complex that binds dead skin cells together. In skincare, it’s remarkable how well oil combats oil.
Pure Radiance Oil
The Pure Radiance Oil is $38. Find it here.

Here’s why I’m obsessed with this oil:
- It absorbs into the skin like magic.
- It has never, ever broken me out. It actually seems to minimize my tendency towards acne. I even tested it in 112 degree weather in Palm Desert, and I finished the day without any skin congestion.
- It doesn’t enhance pores, even after a full day’s wear.
- I can adjust the amount used based on how dry or oily my skin is.
- The Pure Radiance Oil works well under my foundations, whether I’m using a liquid foundation or a powder one. It never causes the makeup to slide around or become patchy. And it doesn’t cause the makeup to wear off or transfer easier. Under makeup, this Pure Radiance Oil is probably superior to the other pricier True Botanicals oils. (But I still love the anti-aging power behind the Pure Radiance Oil, RENEW, especially for nighttime use.)
- A little goes a looooong way. I’ve been using a 1oz bottle for a month, and I’ve hardly used a third of it.
Ingredients: organic camellia tea seed oil, organic jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, organic avocado oil, chia seed oil, organic raspberry seed oil, tocopherol, bitter orange leaf/twig extract, ylang ylang flower oil, lavender oil, rose geranium flower oil, frankincense oil, bitter orange flower oil.
Repair Serum
There’s nothing basic about this serum. It’s simply one of the best daytime serums I’ve ever come across. The Repair Serum creates dewy, smooth skin.
It’s the product to reach for when you want skin to look its absolute best. It has a visual effect similar to that of a hydrating, collagen-plumping sheet mask.

It is $85 for a 1oz pump bottle. Find it here.
The magic ingredient is the ultra low weight hyaluronic acid. Sodium hyaluronate holds 1000x its weight in water. It penetrates skin and provides long-lasting hydration.
Ingredients: organic green and white tea leaf extract, organic glycerin, organic tea seed oil, water, algae extract, seaweed, sodium hyaluronate, xanthan gum, citric acid, lavender oil, frankincense oil, phenethyl alcohol, ethylhexylglycerin.
Sodium alginate is another remarkable ingredient, well-utilized in this serum. Derived from brown algae, it improves skin texture and softens skin.
A Vitamin C Booster to Brighten and Repair Skin

This unique product proves that YES, you can safely correct skin damage and tackle aging while you’re pregnant.
The Vitamin C Booster uses a specific form of Vitamin C to help prevent and treat UV-induced photodamage. Generally, Vitamin C is one of the most effective and safest ingredients for younger-looking, brighter skin. Because so many women struggle with hyperpigmentation during and after pregnancy (myself included!), this serum booster is indispensable.
These are its simple, straightforward ingredients: organic tapioca starch, vitamin C as L-ascorbic acid, ferulic acid.
This product is a powder that mixes into your serum or facial oil. Here’s why True Botanicals has decided to offer it as a powdered mix-in: Vitamin C is notoriously unstable in skincare preparations. As soon as Vitamin C is mixed into a liquid, it begins to oxidize and lose its power. But by keeping the powdered Vitamin C separate, it retains maximum potency until mixed with the serum in the palm of your hand.

The Vitamin C Booster is $90 for a 0.49oz glass shaker bottle. Find it here.
My Results
I’m pleased with how the Hydrate Collection affected my skin’s health and beauty.
My skin is calm, free of breakouts, feels soft and has a dewy—not greasy!—glow. And the addition of the Vitamin C Booster has allowed me to overcome my hyperpigmentation issues and improve the firmness of my skin.
These products are amazing enough to use even if you’re not pregnant.
