Mica refers to a family of silicate minerals with a brilliant shine and a somewhat hexagonal sheet-like arrangement of its atoms. Its reflective and refractive properties–plus its stability in the presence of light or extreme temperatures–make it a popular choice in both natural and mainstream makeup formulations.
Alima Pure is Different
Alima Pure’s loose eyeshadows boast skin-calming non-nano natural minerals, with mica at the top of the ingredient list. Unlike some mineral makeup, Alima Pure is free of potential irritants like bismuth oxychloride.
Alima Pure eyeshadows apply seamlessly and are surprisingly smooth for a powder. Just take care when applying this or any other loose mineral makeup. Minerals such as mica are extremely safe on the skin but aren’t meant to be inhaled. So try not to sniff your eyeshadow, bro.
Inside the Ingredients
Is this makeup organic? Actually, there’s no need to certify organic, because the straightforward ingredient list is mineral-based and inorganic.
Ingredients: mica (CI 77019). May contain: titanium dioxide (CI 77891), iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), ultramarines (CI 77007).

Certification
Alima Pure’s makeup has earned the BDIH Certified Natural Cosmetics Seal. If you live in the United States, that’s noteworthy. The US has dismal standards when it comes to cosmetic safety. The European Union, on the other hand, has banned over 1,200 ingredients for use in cosmetics and has built an enviable regulatory framework of consumer protection. Taking one step further, the BDIH improves upon the EU’s cosmetics standards by certifying only the most natural of products. Both the ingredients and the manufacturing process must be scrutinized to earn a BDIH seal. Created in 1995 in Germany, BDIH was the world’s first organic body care certification.
