Meet the Perfect C PRO Speed Peel, the cousin of one of the most beloved anti-aging serums here on The Beauty Proof.
When a friend came to me this weekend about finding an anti-aging skin regimen, I immediately referred her to Mychelle. There’s a lot of bang for your buck with Mychelle, and I knew she’d be happy with the results as she neared her fortieth birthday.
And just as I shared my enthusiasm for Mychelle with my friend, I’m excited to share it with you now!
What it Targets
Here’s some of the skin imperfections the Perfect C PRO Speed Peel is especially good at tackling:
- overall dullness
- old acne scars
- skin roughness
Why it Rocks
- It only takes 1 minute, once a week, to do the peel.
- It leaves skin bright and smooth.
- The ingredients are clean and nontoxic.
- It’s strong enough to immediately improve the look of skin, but not so strong that the skin requires downtime, as with other “pro” peels.
- It smells like a lemon tart.
- It’s yet another exceptional exfoliant from Mychelle. Their exfoliants mean business!
Inside the Ingredients
All Mychelle products are free of phthalates, parabens, artificial fragrances or colors, GMOs and gluten.
The “10%” you see on the front of the bottle refers to the content of L-Ascorbic Acid blended with L-Lactic Acid.
The peel also has the distinction of containing 25% citrus fruit. You can smell that burst of citrus fruit as soon as you open the jar!
Ingredients: water, lemon zest, ascorbic acid (L), glycerin, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate, lactic acid (L), willow bark extract, retinaldehyde, buddleja davidii culture, phaseolus radiatus culture extract, goji berry extract, green tea leaf extract, arnica montana flower extract, licorice root extract, calendula flower extract, bisabolol, allantoin, sunflower seed oil, tocopherol, cloud berry seed oil, honeysuckle flower extract, tangerine peel oil, lemon peel oil, grapefruit peel oil, hydroxyethylcellulose, phytic acid, xanthan gum, cyclodextrin, alcohol, pentylene glycol, sodium metabisulfite, potassium sorbate.
Extremely Safe | Reasonably Safe | Proceed with Caution | Insufficient Data |
There’s a few ingredients that seem like a mouthful, but really aren’t too intimidating once you get to know them. For instance, hydroxypropyl starch phosphate is derived from fruit sugar and helps to thicken the peel.
How to Use
This peel should only be used in the evening, and sun protection should always be worn the following day.
Once a week, apply a thin layer after cleansing. Avoid the eye area or any broken or irritated skin. Leave on for 1 minute, and enjoy the tingly feeling. Rinse with cool water.
A word of caution: using this product more than recommended probably won’t lead to better or quicker results, but could instead sensitize skin and create more problems than you’d like.
Considerations for Sensitive Skin
My face temporarily turns red after using this mask, so I like to use a calming post-peel mask like this one or this one after completing the peel. But compared to physical exfoliants that use some sort of grain or scrub, this peel doesn’t irritate my skin too badly.
Still, if your skin is sensitive, proceed with caution. Mychelle recommends doing a patch test before using for the first time.
Cruelty Free
Mychelle is on PETA’s list of certified cruelty-free companies.
PETA’s database is what I personally rely on when searching for companies that are cruelty-free. PETA’s requirements encompass ingredients, ingredient suppliers, formulations, and finished products.
Where to Purchase
The Perfect C PRO Speed Peel is usually $32 for a 1.2oz jar, but you can find it here for less.
The Perfect C Radiance Lotion 12%
If you’re enjoying the way the Perfect C PRO Speed Peel is brightening your face, be sure to check out the Perfect C Radiance Lotion 12% ($44). It hydrates, brightens and protects skin while using some of the same effective ingredients as the peel.
