The Look & Finish
This eyeshadow has a silky, even finish and is extremely blendable. The shade shown above, Wisdom, is a modern taupe that complements a variety of eye colors.

|Extremely Safe||Reasonably Safe||Proceed with Caution||Insufficient Data|
The #1 ingredient, Talc, is an absorbent opacifying agent. Talc has the potential to be dangerous when the powder is inhaled or applied to the genital area. Even asbestos-free talc isn’t an ideal base for any natural product, but since this product is a pressed powder and not a loose one, I personally feel comfortable using it on the small patch of skin it was intended for.
Octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate is one of those ingredients which sounds like it must be terribly synthetic and toxic, but in reality it’s very safe. Made from a naturally occurring fatty acid found in vegetable fat (yes, vegetables have fats too), octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate is an amber yellow liquid which slows water loss from the skin by creating a protective barrier and increasing the lipid/oil portion of the makeup. Be aware, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate is sometimes derived from animal sources, but this particular eyeshadow shade is vegan.
A few easily recognizable plant ingredients also make an appearance in this gorgeous eyeshadow. Bamboo is rich in silicone, an extremely important nutrient in the synthesis of collagen. This bamboo is wild-harvested, not farmed. Honeysuckle extract acts as a preservative, to help prevent spoilage.
Kjaer Weis acknowledges that the manufacturing process can often turn natural or organic ingredients into toxic substances in the presence of high heat or chemical manipulations. According to their website, Kjaer Weis is mindful of this problem and has adopted high standards in the production of their cosmetics to create the highest quality product possible. Gotta love a brand that holds itself to a high standard.
Is It Vegan?
Wisdom (pictured in the top image) is vegan, but not all shades are. Kjaer Weis recommends using a synthetic brush to apply their eyeshadows.
Where to Purchase
The eyeshadow compact costs $45, but refills cost a more reasonable $22-$25, depending on where you shop. I get mine from Integrity Botanicals.
