Kahina has a new fragrance, the FEZ Oil Perfume, and it has the potential of reaching icon status. I can’t recall another natural perfume with so much promise.
The Unexpected Scent
Kahina describes the fragrance using terms like exotic, sensual, warm and grounding. And although the ingredient list doesn’t explicitly name the essential oils it’s made of, Kahina describes the scent as:
“Tantalizing rose and orange blossoms are layered over the scents of antiquity; patchouli, vetiver and ylang-ylang with lingering hints of cumin and clove from the spice market.”
I must stress that with all this talk of “exotic” and “patchouli”, FEZ is an elegant fragrance. It’s more Bergdorf’s than flea market.
The FEZ Oil Perfume is sophisticated—its complexity and sensuality is what I’d expect from a luxury brand like Bond No. 9, but without the problematic synthetic components.
Take it Along
The Miron glass bottle with a stainless steel roller ball applicator is discrete and understated—and perfect to toss into a purse. Considering that Kahina is a brand with a distinctly multicultural ethos, this design makes sense. The bottle isn’t an overwrought delicacy to sit preciously on a vanity. It is a travel companion.
