Red sandalwood powder is an intriguing ingredient. It comes from the heartwood of a tree which grows in India, Indonesia and the Caribbean. Red sandalwood powder is prized for its ability to calm acne and rashes, while smoothing the overall complexion. I’m fascinated by Indian beauty blogs which utilize red sandalwood powder (also called chandan) in beauty treatments in endless combinations with other ingredients like turmeric, butter, and cucumber juice. But by combining the red sandalwood powder with adzuki beans and quinoa in this Protein Exfoliating Mask, the skin is refined just so… not so much to leave the skin raw and irritated, but not so little that the complexion isn’t improved.
