Maybe it’s because this cold winter has made my skin extra needy, but I’ve been way into Weleda’s rose line lately. This particular eye cream was sent to me from a good friend in Paris, who thought it was too good not to share.
She was right.

Why it Rocks
Never gooey, the Weleda Wild Rose Eye Cream works beautifully under eye makeup. It’s the perfect compromise for someone who can’t stand heavy eye creams, but still wants the benefits.
Inside the Ingredients
Ingredients: water, peach kernel oil, sweet almond oil, alcohol, jojoba seed oil, hydrolyzed beeswax, musk rose seed oil, olive oil, sedum purpureum extract, glyceryl stearate se, eyebright extract, xanthan gum, sodium beeswax.
Extremely Safe | Reasonably Safe | Proceed with Caution | Insufficient Data |
This formulation appears to be reasonably safe for use, not to mention that it’s harnessed the power of a few excellent plant-based oils. Peach kernel oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba seed oil create a rich base, well suited for the delicate eye area.
Often, skin care products contain ingredients that we would never use on their own, yet are extremely helpful in creating a cohesive final product. Emulsifiers are one such type of ingredient. Emulsifiers aid in creating an even-textured product. This Weleda eye cream uses a few popular natural emulsifiers: glyceryl stearate se, xanthan gum, and sodium beeswax. Glyceryl stearate se is a compound of glycerin and stearic acid. It’s used in everything from creams and lotions to makeup and powders. Xanthan gum is not only favored for its ability to emulsify, but also to thicken and stabilize cosmetic formulations. Sodium beeswax is the fatty acids derived from–you guessed it–beeswax. Without these emulsifiers, this cream would most likely lose its smooth, uniform texture while waiting on the store shelf for your purchase.
Although toxic in large quantities, alcohol is widely and safely used in cosmetics as a solvent. On its own or in high concentrations, alcohol can be drying, but in my experience this eye cream is gently moisturizing.
Where to Purchase
The Weleda Wild Rose Smoothing Eye Cream is $30 or less for a 0.34 oz tube.
