Despite the first three ingredients (water, alcohol, witch hazel), this toner is not a liquid but has a gel-like consistency. When I first received this product I expected a spray bottle–don’t be fooled like me!
Although toxic in large quantities, alcohol is widely and safely used in skin care products as a solvent. On its own or in high concentrations, alcohol can be drying, but in my experience this toner is gentle even for sensitive or moderately dry skin.
Exceptionally soothing plant-based ingredients give this toner an edge. A classic skin-calming ingredient, chamomile, contains alpha-Bisabolol which not only improves damaged and dry skin, but also contains anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial qualities. Borage seed oil is rich in Omega-6 essential fatty acids which restore elasticity and rebuild skin’s moisture barrier.
Fair Trade
As company policy, Primavera supports ethical farming methods which rely on biodiversity, crop rotation, chemical-free pest control, and GMO avoidance. This German company has been promoting fair trade practices decades before it was trendy.
