Innovation takes many forms. Sometimes it’s in the form of a handheld gadget with a blingy new OS. Other times it’s a gray putty meant to be slathered on your underarms.
I’ll give you one guess which kind of innovation catches my attention.
Osmia Organics’ Deodorant Cream is unlike any product I’ve tried. It’s deodorant, re-imagined. Since my first lady speed stick in middle school, I blindly accepted a skewed ideal of underarm etiquette. Back then, I never questioned the sickly sweet scent, the blockage of sweat glands, or even the solid bar form.
Why It Rocks
- The scent is mellow and refreshing, not overtly feminine or perfumey.
- It’s easy to apply the soft gray putty with the fingers.
- On average, the protection lasts all day, but on an unusually active or warm day I’ll reapply mid-afternoon.
Deodorant, not Antiperspirant
And as any reformed drugstore antiperspirant devotee will tell you, this product isn’t meant to inhibit sweating, which is an entirely natural and healthy bodily function.
Inside the Ingredients
Ingredients: organic shea butter, organic tapioca starch, organic jojoba oil, sodium bicarbonate, fuller’s earth clay, organic tamanu oil, organic vegetable glycerin, and a proprietary blend of certified organic and wild-harvested essential oils.

The ingredients in this cream work utilizing multiple mechanisms. One, ingredients with strong absorptive properties like tapioca starch, sodium bicarbonate (aka baking soda), and fuller’s earth clay naturally keep odor and moisture at bay. Secondly, the shea butter, jojoba and tamanu oil are soothingly beneficial to the skin.
Make the Scent Work for You
And even the scent is not without purpose. The essential oils are chosen for their ability to help “control the bacteria responsible for causing odor”. What a concept. This deodorant not only fights odor at its source, but it allows my skin to fully operate as the dynamic living organ that it is. Brilliant.
