Recently, I upgraded my lip care game with Kari Gran Lip Whips. These pretty little pots of creamy balm protect and penetrate the fine lip skin, smoothing out those pesky vertical lines. And although these are by no means a “plumping” lip product, this particular blend of oils and beeswax restores my lips beyond superficial hydration. For that reason, I wear these on their own and as a primer under lipstick.
Kari Gran Lip Whips are $15 for the un-tinted version, and $20 for the tinted version. Purchase them here.
Kari Gran Lip Whips meet the 3 criteria of a worthwhile product: the ingredients are clean, the packaging is both attractive and high quality, and—most importantly—the product works.
Naked (un-tinted, left) Lip Whip Ingredients: castor seed oil, beeswax, camellia seed oil, avocado oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, calendula oil, and tocopherol (from sunflower). With pimento berry oil, cinnamon bark or peppermint oil, depending on the “flavor” chosen.
Extremely Safe | Reasonably Safe | Proceed with Caution | Insufficient Data |
Every ingredient is organic, with the exception of the tocopherol (which is non-GMO) and the pimento berry oil (which is wild harvested).
I was initially drawn to Kari Gran because of their packaging. They use recyclable dark violet MIRON Glass bottles. MIRON blocks damaging light to protect the fragile plant-based oils contained within. Oils such as avocado, olive and sunflower are nutritional powerhouses, but susceptible to oxidation as a result of air and sunlight exposure. Oils, once oxidized, have diminished nutritional content or, at worst, may be more damaging than beneficial. With Kari Gran, you can feel confident that packaging is always of the highest quality.
The Kari Gran “Naked” Lip Whips are $15. The tinted versions, available in several flattering shades, are $20 each.

//Every bottle has a handwritten expiration date to guarantee freshness.//
That’s good to know. I get very paranoid about expiration dates with natural products, so this is great.

I’m so glad there are products like this that actually think about protecting the plant oils with dark glass. Brilliant.

I know. Isn’t it fascinating how packaging can be such an important part of a product’s quality?

Just purchased this, among other recommendations from your blog, (Acure Hair products, Thayers Witchhazel, etc), and although I have not used all my wares as yet, this lip whip was well worth $15. I love it, and I love this blog!
