A gentle gel which “firms, brightens and smooths fine lines” and aims to reduce free radical damage is all right by me. The Green Apple Age Defy Serum by Juice Beauty goes on smoothly, leaving a slightly sticky residue, which works well under my usual sunscreen and makeup. Some other anti-aging serums will burn or make my skin itch, but this one does no such thing. The results are not radical, but the quality ingredients pass muster.
Inside the Ingredients
The ingredients start out looking like a grocery list: organic apple juice, organic lemon juice, organic white grape juice, organic sugar cane, willow bark extract, organic milk peptides, organic aloe barbadensis leaf juice, vegetable glycerin, organic green tea leaf extract, organic algae extract, organic grape seed oil, organic essential fatty acids of evening primrose, organic linseed seed, organic borage seed, coenzyme Q10, alpha-lipoic acid, dipeptide-2, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-3, vitamin C, tocopheryl acetate and tocopherol, vitamin A, sclerotium gum, dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE), phenoxyethanol, sodium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, disodium EDTA, phospholipids, hyaluronic acid, potassium sorbate, mandarin, may chang and ho wood pure essential oils.
Extremely Safe | Reasonably Safe | Proceed with Caution | Insufficient Data |
The fruit base is what sets Juice Beauty products apart. And the safety of the other major ingredients is what continues to bring me back to Juice Beauty. This serum is primarily made of extremely safe ingredients, and although the questionable Vitamin A plays a supporting role, I feel comfortable using this serum under sunscreen.
High Standards
The side of the package has a statement that makes me smile: “Powerful action without parabens, propylene or butylene glycols, petroleum, sulphates, PEGs, TEA, DEA, phthalates, GMO, silicones, pesticides, artificial dyes or fragrances.” To take it one step further, the Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Serum is “made with 80% certified organic ingredients.”
Sweet.
