The Antioxidant Serum Booster from True Botanicals is a remarkable and unusual skin care product. It’s a pink powder made with all-natural ingredients that are mixed into your facial serum at night. The results I’ve have gotten are incredible. I’ve never tried a product quite like it, and I can’t think of anything to compare it to. My skin has never looked—and felt—better.

Here’s a quick rundown of what the Antioxidant Booster does:
- Firms skin. This is probably one of the most visible changes I’ve seen!
- Brightens hyperpigmentation without irritation. This is crucial for those of us with sensitive or reactive skin.
- Reduces redness, acne and inflammation. It calms acne spots while reducing overall redness. BAM POW! That’s such an awesome combination.
- Smooths wrinkles. Obviously the effects aren’t as dramatic as, say, Botox, but I’ve absolutely had a visible improvement in my little lines. They just seem softer and less prominent.
- Protects against UV damage. This matters because some serums and boosters will actually make skin more vulnerable, not less.
The Antioxidant booster is a deep healer, appropriate for every skin type.
My results with the True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster
I love my skin on this stuff. The True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster is gentle enough for my sensitive skin, but still creates visible results. Plus, the ingredients are clean enough that I feel 100% comfortable using it even as I continue to breastfeed my daughter.
But beyond the improved skin smoothness and firmness, the evening out of pigmentation, the rapid healing of imperfections, the lack of breakouts, and the reduction in pore size, there’s one thing I love most of all about the Antioxidant Booster: I believe it has made my skin more resilient.
As a beauty blogger, I’m constantly testing products. Many of the products I test I never share on The Beauty Proof, because they don’t offer great results. Or others create irritation—don’t think for a second that just because a product is “natural” that it isn’t capable of making skin red and blotchy! So I’ve become very attuned to noticing the lingering effects of a natural skincare product. I always notice if it weakens or irritates my skin. Or if my skin becomes stronger and more balanced—a rare side effect, to be sure, but one I’m always searching for!
In the case of the True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster, my skin has undoubtedly become more resilient. This is more than a temporary calming effect. After three weeks of using it, my skin is more balanced and less likely to be adversely affected by other common triggers such as stress, sugar in the diet, being outside in hot weather, or hormonal fluctuations.
To me, finding a product that not only creates resiliency in my skin while also actively improving the beauty of my skin is invaluable.
How it fits into the True Botanicals anti-aging regimen
I use the Antioxidant Booster mixed into the RENEW Repair Nightly Treatment each night. (True Botanicals makes two different versions of the base serum to personalize your skincare regimen: RENEW for anti-aging and CLEAR to combat adult acne.)
But in reality, the Antioxidant booster can be mixed into any cream or facial oil that you prefer. Because that’s the beauty of a booster—it’s totally customizable!
I’ve also been mixing the Antioxidant Booster into my eye cream each night. The results have totally wowed me! As a nursing mom—and as someone with dark circles under my eyes no matter how much rest or hydration I get—the brightness and smoothness provided by the combination of eye cream and this booster is ahhhh-mazing. I’d recommend the Antioxidant Booster just for the eye area benefits alone!
The True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster ingredients: clean and innovative
The Antioxidant Booster is different than other comparable products I’ve used. That’s because its star ingredient—organic apple peel extract—is different. This isn’t some basic apple juice extract. The magic is in the processing.
If you read this blog, you probably know that good processing can protect the inherent potency of a skincare ingredient, whereas harsh or improper processing can render an otherwise natural, nutritive ingredient lifeless and practically useless. The unique process of retaining the bioactivity of this organic apple peel extract is patented by Cornell University. It maintains the highest available polyphenol potency, which is 3.2%+.
Apple peel is filled with a cornucopia of nutrients such as polyphenols, rutin, quercetin, and ursolic acid. Each of these nutrients, as isolated individual components, are used as ingredients in skincare. But True Botanicals’ method of using a whole-food-based extract offers a more holistic and complete nutritional cocktail for skin.
Quercetin, in particular, is an exciting anti-aging nutrient. It’s not only present in apple skin, but also in onion skin. It actually helps these fruits and veggies to have a long shelf life. And in skincare, quercetin is applied for the purpose of extend the life of human cells. How cool is that?!

I realize that you may have just read that ingredient list and thought, that’s it? Because, I get it. It seems like there’s gotta be some sort of catch. A product needs twenty or thirty ingredients to really work well, right? In this case, not at all. It doesn’t need all sorts of additional ingredients, because apple peel extract really is effective and the dry powder form means it doesn’t need a complicated preservation system. In the case of the Antioxidant Booster, short and sweet is ideal!
I have a feeling we’ll soon be seeing copycat products, each trying to harness the power of apple peel extract.
There’s something else very important to note in this ingredient list: All ingredients have been disclosed. When you find a product that stands by all its ingredients—like this one—that’s a good thing.
Finding the word fragrance on the ingredient lists of other products means the company behind the product has chosen to not disclose all ingredients. Thanks to the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act of 1966, fragrance is considered proprietary information and allowed to be hidden from consumers. So while you see that single word on the label, it may contain any number of secret ingredients.
But here’s the good news: more and more companies are choosing to disclose all ingredients in their cosmetics, thus empowering consumers like you to make a choice with your eyes wide open. Transparency matters. And that’s just another reason I love this product.
How does a powder work in skincare?!
The Antioxidant Booster comes out as a loose powder and needs to be mixed into a liquid or cream before being applied to the face. As I shared above, I like to add it to the Cellular Repair Serum, RENEW in the palm of my hand, but it can be added to another serum—or even water—in a pinch.
So put a small amount of the serum in your palm, and add two shakes of the Antioxidant Booster. Mix it up. The little clumps will smooth out quite easily. Then press the mixture onto your face, neck and chest.
Follow up with your favorite moisturizing facial oil or cream.
Which one to use? Antioxidant Booster vs. Vitamin C Booster
True Botanicals now has two extraordinary boosters to choose from, this Antioxidant Booster we’ve been discussing and the Vitamin C Booster. As two unusual powdered formulations, they might appear similar at first glance. Perhaps they even seem redundant. But having spent a good amount of time with both, I can confidently say that they each serve a purpose.
The Vitamin C Booster ($90) is hands-down the best Vitamin C product I’ve ever used. I used it as part of an anti-aging regimen that gave me remarkable results in 30 days; all sorts of hyperpigmentation and dullness and damage was undone in that short amount of time. You can get the full story of my 30 day transformation here. I’m glad I used the Vitamin C Booster when I did and in the way I used it. It was what my skin needed at that particular point in time.
But the Antioxidant Booster is what my skin craves now.

After overcoming cystic acne and chronic illness, my skin is now in a much more balanced state. Perfect? No, not by a long shot. It does still take a great deal of care to keep my skin in balance: I’m sensitive, fairly reactive, and prone to redness. And my skin has become drier after my last pregnancy (I’m currently 9 months postpartum). The True Botanicals Antioxidant Booster is giving my skin much-needed resiliency while it improves old damage.
But there’s a second option—a really amazing one—if you’re serious about your skin. Some people are alternating each night between the Antioxidant Booster and the Vitamin C Booster as the ultimate way to naturally and safely transform skin.
But if you had to choose one, I recommend the Antioxidant Booster if your skin is at all sensitive or reactive. That’s probably why I lean towards the Antioxidant Booster today. Also, for a very small percentage of people, high concentrations of topical vitamin C can cause breakouts—if you’re part of that group, you’ll definitely prefer the Antioxidant Booster!
