Avoiding oil in skincare is as backwards as avoiding healthy fats in your diet. It’s not the 90s anymore. This is 2015, and quality oils—when used properly—can be your ally even if you have oily or acne-prone skin. Especially if you have oily or acne-prone skin, in many cases!
When cleansers are too harsh, they strip away the natural oils produced by the skin. Skin compensates by producing more sebum to repair and replenish stripped skin. Skin then enters a brutal cycle of dry/flaky —> oily —> and back to dry/flaky again. Round and round we go.
If that cycle is something you’d like to break, let me introduce you to an exceptional oil cleanser, the Aimee Raupp Organic Argan Oil Facial Cleanser. Not only does it cleanse without stripping the skin, it cleans incredibly well, removing every trace of makeup and environmental grime.
Aimee Raupp Beauty isn’t your average skincare company. Aimee is a women’s health and fertility expert with a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine. She’s a practicing acupuncturist and the author of the book Yes, You Can Get Pregnant: Natural Ways to Improve Your Fertility Now and Into Your 40s. Aimee’s skincare line reflects her passion for promoting women’s health by avoiding ingredients which can alter or disrupt the delicate hormonal balance within a woman’s body.
Ingredients: sesame oil, argan oil, pomegranate seed oil, essential oils of blue chamomile, tea tree, lavender & geranium.
I particularly like this oil cleanser because of what it does not contain. Although excessive Pinterest-ing makes it appear that coconut is the ultimate natural skincare oil, coconut oil can create breakouts in some women (myself included). Avoiding it may actually help some women find skin bliss. The sesame oil and argan oil contained in this Aimee Raupp Organic Oil Facial Cleanser smell amazing, cleanse deeply, and leave skin supple and smooth. It works very well for those with acne-prone and sensitive skin.
My nightly cleansing routine is this: I massage the Organic Argan Oil Cleanser onto my dry face with my fingers for a minute or so, then wash it off with warm water and a soft wash cloth. Because I practice double-cleansing, I’ll follow up with a mild cream cleanser. This method leaves my skin deeply clean and balanced.
The Aimee Raupp Organic Argan Oil Facial Cleanser is $38 for a 2oz bottle.
*Products get makeovers too. Be sure to check if this product has been recently re-formulated before using it yourself.

I was just talking to a friend about oil cleansing, however, I’ve always assumed it just wasn’t for me. I did it with a coconut oil and felt like it didn’t fully remove my face makeup. But you mention double cleansing with an oil! I had no idea- now this I can get into! I’m going to try it out with this Aimee Raupp oil!
