A clean blush that performs? Count me in.
Nu Evolution’s Pressed Blush is free of the usual culprits we seek to avoid in cosmetics, such as parabens and synthetic fragrances. But it’s also admirably formulated without talc or phenoxyethanol, two controversial ingredients often found in some self-proclaimed “natural” cosmetics.
Coverage and Wear
For me, the medium coverage of this blush is ideal. It’s neither frustratingly sheer nor too opaque. Leave the strong pigmentation to eyeshadows and lipsticks! With blush, a slight transparency is easier to work with.
The smooth finish doesn’t just add a soft flush of color, it also enhances the beauty of skin by blending perfectly and not settling into pores.
Nu Evolution’s Pressed Blush is currently offered in three flattering shades:
- Cosmopolitan (pictured above): a neutral reddish brown
- Flushed: sultry pink with a light shimmer
- Soho: light and rosy
I love the Cosmopolitan color is because it’s tough to find a blush that flatters my light olive skin. Anything with overtly pink or blue undertones contrasts with my skin, but anything too reddish appears ruddy. Cosmopolitan gives me a perfectly natural flush that I can wear for day or nighttime looks, without looking like a doll.
The coverage is buildable.
Inside the Ingredients
Nu Evolution offers 100% full ingredient disclosure on their blush. Not every cosmetic company takes that leap, so I have extra respect for the ones who do!

The finished product has a smooth finish that’s easy to apply. No streaks here!
My one complaint with this blush is not in the formulation or the performance. It’s with the packaging. The packaging is generic and somewhat flimsy. I don’t feel confident tossing this blush into my purse, because I’m not entirely sure the plastic window of the lid would stay firm.
That said, would I purchase this blush again? Yes, I would. I would just continue to handle the blush carefully and hope that as Nu Evolution grows as a company, their packaging will better reflect the quality of the product inside.
